The Ultimate Development League was founded by longtime ultimate coach Shea Gunther, who has lead the elementary and middle school ultimate program in Falmouth, Maine since 2014. As part of his coaching work, Coach Shea has taught nearly 4,500 students how to play ultimate in their gym classes and has worked with kids ranging from 2nd graders up through 8th.
Coach Shea started the Ultimate Development League to bring what he’s learned about teaching ultimate in Falmouth out to the broader Maine community. Our goal is to teach every kid how to play ultimate, give every kid their own frisbee, and to provide opportunities to every kid to play and compete. We achieve this by working with partner schools and gym teachers who welcome our trained instructors into gym classes to teach kids how to throw and catch a frisbee and how to play ultimate. Our spring intramural league and summer camps provide kids with the chance to play and compete.
