A commitment to growing the sport of ultimate in Maine
The Ultimate Development League has three simple goals- Teach every kid how to play ultimate, Give every kid their own frisbee, and Provide opportunities for every kid to play and compete in ultimate.
A passion for the sport of ultimate
We believe that in order to grow the sport of ultimate and to cultivate and support young athletes, we need to:
TEACH every kid how to play ultimate.
Our trainers work with gym teachers in grades 2-5 in our partner schools to provide instruction to kids, in their gym classes, on how to throw and catch a frisbee as well as how to play the sport of ultimate.
GIVE every kid their own frisbee.
We give frisbees to every kid we teach and every kid who plays in our league or attends our camps. We really try to give frisbees to every kid we see; they all need one.
PROVIDE opportunities for every kid to play and compete in ultimate.
Our spring intramural leagues and summer camps allow kids who enjoy ultimate to play more and to further develop their own game and goals.
Ultimate is just different
Our sport is driven by a philosophy called Spirit of the Game that stresses the importance of fair play and integrity in even the most competitive games. Ultimate is non-contact and self-officiated, so players are responsible for learning the rules of the game and working out issues and rule violations on the field themselves.
